Hungry Horse Poachers Pocket review

After many years of being miles from a Hungry Horse two restaurants open up literally on my doorstep. The irony huh?

Today I visited the recently opened Poachers Pocket Hungry Horse in Walderslade, Kent.

The car park has to be a major disadvantage of the new Hungry Horse as it's far too small for busy trade. However the pub is located in a easy parking area so this shouldn't be too big a problem.

The once typical boozer has been transformed into a eye catching warm environment with locally themed wallpaper and paintings.

The layout has been changed and there are a lot of comfy red booths now available. For those who aren't eating you're still welcome and the pub is divided into a drinking and eating area.

The menu is typical Hungry Horse fare including burgers, steaks, pub dishes like sausage and mash. I went for a classic hot dog whilst my mum tried the prawn mayo jacket potato and we made sure we ordered the free chicken wings.

The food did take quite a while to arrive but may have been down to the business of the restaurant. Our food was presented nicely and tasted good, the only major disadvantage would be that the chips seemed cold!

Our waitress was friendly and the food well priced with good variety so I would give the new Hungry Horse 4/5

Advantages
•Good range of food on the menu
•Friendly staff
•Reasonable prices
•Lovely fresh layout

Disadvantages
•Small car park
•Food waiting time can be long in busy periods
